Meditation: Power of the Mind

by Aaron Heine

Today I want to reveal to you the most powerful meditation technology I have yet to come across.

But first, let's look at a practical meditation regimen that is easy to do and works wonders in your daily life.

There can be little doubt about the power of the mind and how it affects us both internally and externally. If we change our thought patterns, we change our perceptions and actions, which in turn changes our lives. That is a pretty amazing truth when you think of it. We don't have to be tossed about on the ocean of life. We can put our rudder in the water and steer towards our goals.

The following meditations will do wonders to harness the power of your mind.

1. Counting Your Blessings

This is a meditation that we all know, but so few of us practice. I believe it is overlooked because it seems too simple to be worth much. Nothing could be further from the truth. Take 10 minutes every morning before you get out of bed, in the shower, etc. to practice this meditation. The results are amazing.

This meditation is essential to the process of transforming our lives. First of all, it is a fantastic exercise for getting rid of the blues and increasing energy and joy. Second, please realize that finding satisfaction in what we already have is the key to attaining more in the future. The world responds to our general attitude. If we are grateful we get more to be grateful for.

2. Affirm Your Goal

This meditation is the other side of the coin, so to speak. In this exercise you are directing your mind to that which you will attain. Pick an attainable goal that is important to you and put your mind to work on it. How? There is an amazing formula put forth by respected author Song Chengxiang. It is simply: I Choose: An example would be, I choose to make $50,000 a year.

The I Choose part is crucial because it solves all of the messy problems that affirmations bring up. It makes the statement present tense and believable to the subconscious mind. If you say I make $50,000 a year when you actually make $30,000, then your mind says LIAR. When you state I Choose it is a statement of intent and the mind then looks to bring life into alignment with the thought.

Carry a note card with your goal written on it. Read it to yourself when appropriate times arise and especially right after you wake up and right before you go to sleep.

3. Calm the Mind Through Acceptance

I recommend setting aside 10 minutes at night to perform this exercise. Sit in a dark room with minimal noise and close your eyes. Your goal is to bring your mind to a calm quiet state. When thoughts arise as they most certainly will, do not fight them. Accept them and let them pass on. The adage that which we resist, persists is absolutely true. The reason why most people fail at quieting the mind is that they try to make it quiet, which is self-defeating. The ultimate goal is to sit in absolute calm, but just learning to accept and release the thoughts that come will provide enormous benefits.

Most people see amazing results right away, but whether the results come quickly or slowly, the longer these simple techniques are utilized the greater the benefit. I wish you all the best on your journey.
