Lesser Banishment Ritual Of The Pentagram: Secrets Of The Alchemist

On the surface, this Lesser Banishment Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP) appears to be a ritual for cleansing. Indeed, it is very effective for getting rid of unwanted energetic, psychic, and sensorial influences in any space. This is why it is used before any major magical operation, meditation, and divination. It is also used to help with attacks and to banish unwanted elementals. In short, only those energies and presences that the magician wills to use in the temple should be present, and
everything else is banished away from that space.

On the other hand, the LBRP also banishes internally. When the magician is in the temple, elementals and unconscious pockets of energy are banished away, but the magician comes into the temple with her own baggage, with all the ego reactions, angers, desires, frustrations, and projections that plagued her day. These unconscious thoughts and emotions can contaminate her desired operation. For example, if her intent is to perform a divination to see if she should take on a new job, her own fears, desires, or insecurities might get in the way and alter the reading. The LBRP gets rid of these shells, these unconscious little demons that pull our attention here and there.

In short, the LBRP creates a clean, empty, sacred space where the magician can work. This sacred space is an external and internal hermetically sealed crucible where works of lesser and higher magick can be performed without extraneous influences.

Perform the LBRP every time you are going to perform an important operation, make a life-changing decision, pray for an important insight, or heal, or simply in order to change your internal conditions. This ritual is a clean and powerful way of creating calm, equilibrium, objectivity, and peaceful awareness. Use it whenever you need to gain control of your emotions, thoughts, or actions.

However, anyone who thinks the LBRP is only a ritual for cleansing is sadly mistaken. Aleister Crowley* said that "those who regard this ritual as a mere device to invoke or banish spirits are unworthy to possess it. Properly understood, it is the Medicine of Metals and the Stone of the Wise." The Lesser Banishment Ritual of the Pentagram is nothing less than a key to the Great Work, the Magnus Opus of the alchemist. It both represents the entire process of alchemical transformation as well as makes it happen if done correctly over time. This ritual unifies the opposites, uniting the above with the below, the inner with the outer, the feminine with the masculine, the angelic with the demonic, and conscious with the unconscious. In other words, the LBRP is an operation that points and leads to the highest attainment.

I hope this ritual does for you what it has done for me over the years.

May All Beings Everywhere attain.

May All Beings Everywhere be liberated.

May All Beings Everywhere smile conspiratorially.
