Lucid Dreaming - How it Aids Spiritual Growth

By Abhishek Agarwal

When you are having a lucid dream, you wake up in your dreams; that is, you suddenly realize that you are dreaming, while your body remains asleep. Most lucid dreamers feel that this is a moment of magic. Lucid dreaming is a delightful experience, where you can achieve whatever you desire and learn valuable lessons. There is no limit to what you can do in lucid dreams-you can fly, swim, have a chat with spirit guides, animals, or deceased loved ones, learn about your past lives, and so on.

Lucid dreaming frees us from many things that bind us in our earthly life. We feel refreshed and liberated...and this prepares us to tackle another day on earth. So, lucid dreaming is the greatest stress buster we have.

Moreover, lucid dreaming is an excellent way to satisfy suppressed desires. Do you want to sunbathe on a golden beach? You only have to think about it and you will find yourself sunbathing on a sun-kissed, golden beach. Thoughts are manifested on earth too, but they take a distressingly long time to materialize owing to the dense vibrations of the earthly plane. In your lucid dream, however, every single desire is manifested the minute you think about it.

Lucid dreaming teaches us that are in complete control of our life and our future. To our surprise, there is neither god nor devil out there controlling our lives. Everything depends on what we think and desire.

Waking up in your dreams and becoming aware that we are dreaming is an experience that parallels truth realization or enlightenment. Just as we create situations and scenarios in our lucid dreams, we create our reality in our waking moments too. The only difference is the speed of manifestation. On earth, thoughts take a long time to attain their material form. In lucid dreams, they materialize instantly. In either case, the thinker is responsible for the reality he/she has created.

We find that we are free to choose and create, that we choose everything that happens to us. Once we realize this, we also realize that we are responsible for our life. We then stop blaming others, especially God, for the situation we find ourselves in. Instead, we realize with excitement that we have the power to change it for the better.

This is the greatest spiritual lesson that lucid dreaming can teach us, and this makes lucid dreaming important...for the spiritual growth it fosters. Lucid dreaming instills in us a sense of responsibility, freedom, and strength of character. We realize that it is within our power to create heaven on earth.
